Sadly, this is the end of our weekly ladies rides for the season. But we would like to see everyone one last time to celebrate an amazing summer of riding, socializing, and eating slightly naughty food!
Of course, we would love to see you all out on the trails today. We have planned three so there is a little something for every one. If you’re ambitious you can even make it to two of them- That’s my plan!
If you just can’t make it to the ride, you are more than welcome to come to the apres and see everyone for one last time.
So here’s the plan:
We meet at The Nest (the restaurant formerly known as the Eagle’s Nest) in Brackendale around 5:30 pm, have yummy appies and drinks, tell war stories of all the rides we went on this summer, and maybe make plans for some fall/winter outings.
Okay, I have a bit of an ulterior motive. I really want to get some feedback on what you enjoyed about the rides this year, what we should improve for next year, what we should absolutely not do next year, and anything else youv’e been dying to tell us but just haven’t had the chance.
If you can’t make it, but want to give some feedback, please email me at jen2bike@hotmail.com.
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

For all you adventurous spirits out there who like to push the envelope
Ride Date: September 27, 2008
Time: 12:30 pm
Place: Tantalus Bike Shop
Ride Length: 2 hrs
Difficulty: Advanced- If you enjoy riding Entrails, Credit Line, and Cheshire Cat, but wish that they were just a little more technical, You’ll love this one!
Route: Ride up Ray Peter’s Trail from the corner of Hwy 99 and Depot. Cross the highway then up Alice Lake Road to the back of Alice lake and up DeBeck’s hill. (Remember, you must ride up in order to ride down.) Down Crouching Squirrel Hidden Monkey and Plural of Nemesis.
Crouching Squirrel Hidden Monkey
A classic Squamish trail, this one has been around for years. It starts out at a moderate pitch, then gets steep and gnarly. Mostly downhill, it does have a few short technical climbs, so keep your head up! The bottom section is pretty eroded- we’ll skip that part by turning right onto Plural of Nemesis.
Plural of Nemesis
This one’s pretty new. It is a very well-built trail with some beautifully done armouring right near the beginning. (On an uphill section that I have yet to clean-argh!) It continues on the same theme as Crouching Squirrel- steep and gnarly. There are several steep rock rides that sneak up on you, so make sure to look ahead and be ready.

Ride Date: September 27, 2008
Time: 12:30 pm
Place: Tantalus Bike Shop
Ride Length: 2 hrs
Difficulty: Intermediate
Route: Ride up Ray Peter’s Trail from the corner of Hwy 99 and Depot. Cross the highway then up Alice Lake Road to Stump Lake. ride up the Four Lakes trail from Stump Lake to Fawn Lake then across to Edith lake, and down to Alice Lake. Here you can extend the ride down Jack’s Trail, or ride back down the road.
The Four Lakes Trail
This trail is open to mountain biking as of September 15. It is a great single track trail with a few roots and rocks, but nothing too crazy. Technically it is a green trail, but I consider it more of an intermediate ride due to a few technical switchbacks, and the amount of uphill riding. Make sure to control your speed on the section from Edith to Alice Lake!
Jack’s Trail
This is an easy single-track trail. More technical than the Four lakes Trail, but wider than most of the single-track in Squamish, so allows for lots of room to work on steering. It’s moderate downhill slope makes it a great place to practice braking and balancing on the bike. Riders will encounter small roots, rocks, and a few logs to ride over.
